▪️This doesn’t bill doesn’t “outlaw book bans.” The first amendment does that, which is why there are no actual book bans. What the bill does is require libraries receiving state grants to adopt the American Library Association’s “Librarian Bill of Rights” which says material shouldn’t be removed for partisan reasons.

As the Illinois Sec of State admits:
🔹“We are not saying that every book should be in every single library. What this law does is it says, let’s trust our experience and education of our librarians to decide what books should be in circulation.”

▪️So instead of parents or local governments deciding which books are on the shelves, librarians will decide. Which might be a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint, but someone is still making the editorial decision on what’s appropriate to include and “ban.”

▪️According to modern hysteria, any book removed or not included on a library shelf is “banned.” Which means librarians will now be in charge of banning books in Illinois, the only difference being they aren’t supposed to ban for partisan reasons, according to the Librarian Bill of Rights.

Interestingly, Occupy Democrats has not deleted their post.
