▪️I was playing around with the new Grokipedia and it already seems much better than Wikipedia (which admittedly isn’t saying much). I was looking for a topic that is politically polarizing that I also knew a lot about, so used “Kenosha unrest shooting” to compare the two.

▪️A key component to the shooting was understanding the broader context behind the Kenosha riots and who Kyle Rittenhouse ended up shooting. Wikipedia simply says that Jacob Blake was shot by police and was paralyzed, thus unrest. Grokipedia gives a much more in-depth account so the reader can see that Blake was a serial criminal with a warrant who had a knife and was resisting arrest while fleeing with children in his car.

▪️When it comes to those who were shot, Wikipedia just gives the names and ages. Grokipedia goes in-depth on each person and about their violent criminal history and mental instability that night.

▪️Part of the left wing mythology over Rittenhouse was removing the context and pretending he went to a legitimate protest and shot peaceful BLM supporters who were advocating for civil rights. Thus, memes created a myth that he shot a guy who was simply throwing a plastic bag, and a guy holding a skateboard. When the reality is it was a mentally unstable lunatic who was yelling threats and trying to lunge for Kyle’s gun, and a guy who was trying to bash his head in with a skateboard.

▪️Wikipedia helps to cover up the context, while Grokipedia gives it without you having to dig further. If you knew nothing about the shooting, you’d get a much more informed overview from Grokipedia imo. And I expect this is true for many other topics.

▪️I have heard that Grokipedia makes some bizarre factual errors, so it’s still a work in progress and can’t be relied on (much like Wikipedia). But I expect it to rapidly improve, while Wikipedia doesn’t. It’s definitely worth trying both when looking at a topic to see what comes up.

It really is funny how they cycle from flinging crude insults to pretending they stand for decency and civility.

It’s just so wild to see these movements see saw, it feels like just yesterday that conservatives were boycotting Disney and the left was gloating.

Interestingly, Occupy Democrats has not deleted their post.
